Forestry Assistance Program
The Forestry Assistance Program (FAP) is designed to provide an
initial professional contact with landowners who are interested in actively managing their forested property. The FAP forester can then help citizens better understand, plan, manage, protect, and utilize their forest resources through various avenues of information, education, and outreach. Furthermore, all of our services are at no cost to the landowner and provide an excellent initial contact between professionals and landowners. We aim to promote forest resource stewardship on private lands in local communities by introducing landowners to forest management and setting them up to achieve their management goals.e
Landowners in Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac counties place great importance in their landownership. To better assist landowners with management of their forest resources the District Forester is available to meet with landowners at no cost.
The service area covers Chippewa, Luce, and Mackinac Counties in Michigan's Eastern Upper Peninsula. The office is located at the USDA Service Center, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
